Alex and Carla were great hosts. They're very knowledgeable about the area, tours, places to eat in town and especially coffee. They own the coffee shop next door. If nothing else, stop in for a coffee. My wife and I checked in for a night and ended up staying a week. During this time, Alex took us on a tour of a coffee plantation, then on to one of his friend's farm for a hike around the area. Alex also helped us acquire insurance for our car during our extended trip through Nicaragua. Carla made us the best coffee and shared the different types of beans and processes for making coffee. I even stayed up late a couple nights talking with Alex about life in Nicaragua and his view on things. The Hostal is centrally located and easy to walk to nearby restaurants and local shops. My wife and I enjoyed the use of the kitchen and outside patio area. All in all, I would recommend this Hostal to anyone who wants to be treated well and become familiar with the life here.

Alex and Carla understand the value of providing a great experience. They are welcoming and inviting, friendly and hospitable. They’ve personally created a home away from home for my husband & I. We’ve cooked in the communal kitchen, used their laundry line and shared a delicious coffee tasting. Our room was perfect - we were offered a double bed along with a twin. We originally checked in for one night and ultimately decided to stayed over a week. The coffee plantation tour with Alex was memorable and educational. He offered us the opportunity to stop by a local restaurant, small garden center and a friends private property for an ice cold beverage on the way home from our coffee tour. Alex and his wife Carla own a quaint and lovely coffee shop next to the hostel. The coffee tasting they provide is probably the most memorable experience we’ve had in Nicaragua. We learned the difference between English, French and Turkish brewing techniques. #flavortown Their puppy Cocoa is as cute as they come!! The hostel is centrally located and smack dab in the middle of restaurant heaven!! Alex will share his favorite spots if you simply tell him what you’re craving - from wings & burgers to local cuisine or Chinese!!

Nice hostel with really cozy flair. Run by the owner of the adjacent coffee shop. So best coffee is guranteed. Owners are super-friendly and very helpful. Alex showed us the city with passion. We'll definitely come back.

Home away from home. The bed is slightly uncomfortable, the room and kitchen are dark, but the staff are so hospitable and approachable. There's access to handwash laundry snd clothesline, and the kitchen has everything a kitchen needs: working stove, fridge/freezer, dishes, tea kettle, blender.... There's a bookshelf with a handful of books. Has wifi. The street can be loud, but that's usual. Toilet needs an extra flush sometimes. Toilet paper replaced instantly when I asked. Free filtered water. Quiet early. Worker had a birthday, brought her kid in, shared cake and soda with all. $7 USD for a dorm bed. I feel welcome here.

The owner is very helpful and friendly. Thks for that. The hostel is based few blocks from the bus terminal and few blocks from the center. Hostel is clean and a chill out area with hangmats. - 1* because of cold shower. The water is very cold. The outside temperature is during nights and in the morning quit chilly. So hot water is a must. It was impossible to take a shower. The bathroom looks quit nice and new. - 1* the matrass in the dorm are quit old and uncomfortable. It could be very loud during day coz hostel is based on a busy street, but during day mostly backpackers are on their way. Internet is quit strong. Very good line for Central America. I can’t give 5* for it. I was thinking long time what to write, but if this two points are solved it’s 5* worth.
