  I had the chance to stay at this Hostel for 4 nights. The host family is very nice, I opted for the breakfast with my stay. Breakfast was good, eggs, toast and tons of fresh local fruits . The wifi was great and I could stream Netflix each night from my cabin. My cabin had a view of both Volcanos Concepcion and Maderas. There was a second story to my cabin where I could sit out and star gaze each night. My cabin had both a private shower and toilet. The host helped me arrange Kayaking, horseback riding on the beach and a guide to climb Maderas. Everything was very affordable. I will return again it was that much fun.

  Nelly is the best! Great food, patient with your Spanish, accommodating and generous at all times. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is interested in staying with a real Nicaraguan family. Bring earplugs (because of the rooster) and be prepared for a gratis exposure therapy to fight potential fears of anything that crawls.

  Nice low price pleasant stay at Tecali. Nelly makes good generous meals and very good canola coffe. The place is just meters away from volcano Maderas track and 300m from the local beach. The view of a volcano sunset from treebench behind the garden. Overall muy bien

  What a great place. Nelly is amazing she loves to chat and loves to help with your Spanish. She will help with anything you want to do on the island. The cabin was rustic with a bambo/palm roof. Most important staying here you help give back to locals.

  Hostal Tecali in Santa Cruz, good view on Madeiras. The owner Nelly is such a lovely person, her family too! Delicious typical food (breakfast or dinner not included, but cheap). She organizes everything you want (local guide for the volcano, rentals) really have enjoyed my stay there. Taste a little of the local life in Ometepe.
