For the project and the atmosphere above all while forgetting the luxury and the great comfort. We stayed there for 6 nights, from February 17 to 23, 2016. We had the Casita and paid $32.00 US per night because we had booked by email before the skyrocketing price increase. It costs $46.00 US per night as I write this to stay in the Casita. The only accommodation with private bathroom and private balcony in addition to the hammock that we used extensively. Let's be clear and precise that there is nothing luxurious in the Casita, quite the contrary. We were there for the project and the tranquility above all and not for luxury and comfort and we were delighted at this level. If you are a light sleeper and a late riser, it is strongly recommended that you bring good quality plugs as the symphonic concert of dogs, roosters and howler monkeys around can make you spend very short nights. We were among young people with very valid projects who spoke to us pleasantly as if we were still young and it was a great experience for us which doubled us with a good dose of the elixir of youth. No TV but a very decent wifi with a good signal which was acting up very occasionally especially when there were several of us using it I suppose. The food was always excellent and the cheapest in the entire Laguna at $4.00 US a plate and prepared by an always smiling and generous female staff with first class service. René, a young Nicaraguan who speaks good English, received us with kindness and it was also him with whom we completed the departure arrangements. We were able to pay with the credit card but be aware that 5% fees are added but that made our case. The beer is quite expensive on the other hand, 42 cordobas, but if you have the peace project at heart and a dry throat with a budget in this direction, go there cheerfully. Partying and partying are not high on the list at this place better warn you. There is a beautiful tranquility between very interesting people with great travel experiences to share. Bring with you a few sets of guitar strings for the poor little girl who is only 4 and quite worn out. You can play billiards on a table that has been through a lot but still provides pleasure. You can read various books there. You will surely find shoes in your eyes by leafing through some of these books. Good coffee is served for free all day along with purified water. The sunrises are well worth it at the edge of the lagoon a few tens of meters in front of the hostel. The small fridge was not working in the Casita. Hopefully the team will remedy the situation shortly. There are at least 3 convenience stores in the area where you can get what you need with also several restaurants but the prices are quite high not to mention that some add the UVA tax of 15% like at the hotel Paradiso not very far. We can wash our laundry ourselves there and there is plenty of rope to dry it. Shaun always responded to my emails with courtesy and booked the Casita for me well in advance with our word only deposit. There are a few mosquitoes at dusk but they didn't disturb our lives too much. We didn't have to get out our repellent. Lisa is often on site and she is the chief project manager. She is English speaking and speaks good Spanish. Speak with her if you have the opportunity to learn more about this place and its vocation. I believe I have made the tour in words of our stay and I leave it to our photos to complete the rest in images. We recommend this place. Reviewed on February 26, 2016 in San Jorge, Nicaragua.

Stayed here for one night to visit the lake. Our room was nothing like any of the other photos here. Small with wooden garden shed type walls, no furniture, nowhere to put our luggage, the window was a window into another room, the curtain was see through and wasn't big enough for the window and the fan was too noisey to leave on overnight. Whole place could do with a tidy and a lick of paint. Our mistake was to pre-book. Plenty of wildlife spotted from the large balcony at the front while enjoying a morning coffee though!

The staff and volunteers were very nice and the Laguna was amazing. I enjoyed chilling at the deck, reading, relaxing and watching the monkeys! I was happy that my money was going for children education funds. Overall, I had a great stay and would definitely recommend this hostel.

I had a great experience at the hostel, kayaking on the laguna was gorgeous. We could cook whatever we wanted and the volunteers were super friendly! On top of that all your money goes to a great cause. Overall great stay here!
