Stayed at the Cacao Farm with my wife and 2-year old son. We all had a fantastic time. It is a great escape if you are able to work remotely. They have a wonderful staff who make it feel like a 5-star hotel in a remote area of Chantales (2-hours from Nica). Without worrying about cooking and cleaning you are freed up to work and destress. A tremendous experience for children. Feed the cows, chase chickens, hike through a regrowing rainforest. In addition, they have a wonderful selection of Montessori inspired toys and dedicated staff to allow for endless independent play and learning. Can not emphasize enough that it is a refreshing getaway for a remote worker with a family. We will be back.

Loved it & will be coming back… Staying at the farm for 10 days is one of the most unique experiences I’ve ever had. I got to plant some coffee trees, see some pigs chickens & dogs, eat locally sourced food, look at the night sky with zero light pollution, detox from all electronics, hacking some excess rainforest growth with a machete, catch up on sleep, and catch up on some reading — all things I don’t get to experience in the city. Beyond the experience, what captured me most was the Cacao Farm’s mission: restoring the rainforest. I admire the passion they have for bringing back the ecosystem. I learned so much about nature and how they are restoring the land to how it used to be. Learning about the mission and the details of how they’re materializing it was my favorite part of the whole trip. It gave the whole trip a deeper meaning in addition to being a great learning experience. I work in a high-stress environment, so I knew being at the farm for 10 days would allow me to relax and recharge. It's perfect for anyone who lives in the city and wants a reset. I came back to the city with LOTS of energy. The 3 months that followed were my most productive and resulted in record revenue numbers for my company. If you’re looking for a truly unique experience I would highly, HIGHLY recommend the Cacao Farm. I know I will definitely be back!

Full Disclosure: I'm an investor and believer in this project and a friend of the developers. My last visit of this writing was in late December 2019. I had a great time staying at the Cacao Farm. It's on an amazing piece of land in a remote region of Nicaragua, where the owners are regenerating the rainforest and also creating a productive farm and food forest. It's impressive and inspiring what they're doing here. They produce on-site most of what they serve from their kitchen, and the food is great! It's Weston A. Price style food -- meaning old traditional style food that's healthy, with items that are high in fat, items that are fermented, and items that are nutrient-dense. The rooms are beautiful and clean, with air conditioning to keep the temperatures comfortable. The showers in particular are beautifully done with tile as well as being spacious. Some additional conveniences arranged by the Cacao Farm were the taxi driver to get to the farm and the dirty laundry drawer, from which clothes were taken and returned freshly cleaned the next day. (I ended up car pooling back to the airport so didn't use their taxi driver on that trip.) Some of my favorite aspects of my stay were getting to help do some work on the farm out in the cacao trees, coffee bean trees, and other areas, helping to make sure the plants were getting water and hacking back some of the excess growth with a machete. I really enjoyed walking on the paths around the property and looking out from the top of the hill over the nearby hills and valleys. The people who work at the Cacao Farm are really nice and friendly. And if you get a chance to talk with the people developing this project, such as the Garretts or perhaps the Urbinas, then you'll have a great opportunity to learn about their knowledge and expertise in a wide range of topics, including design, forest restoration, healthy food and nutrition, Montessori education, compassionate communication, and much more. One of the most important aspects of this project for me is the valuable friendship and intellectual stimulation I get from interacting with all the people involved in it. They are also very creative and adaptive and willing to put extra energy into making your stay at the Cacao Farm a great one. I recommend the Cacao Farm especially if you're looking for an unusual place off the beaten track that's doing amazing things that you can participate in yourself. It could also be a good home base from which to explore more of the country, or a good place to unplug from the rest of the world and take some time for yourself and some time in nature.

I was extremely satisfied with my stay at 'The Cacao Farm'. One can tell a lot of thought and work was put into this listing. This was my first time trying an Airbnb experience. The Cacao farm is a nice way to relax and get a REAL feel for the country of Nicaragua. A little about the stay - My room was well designed with a comfy bed and spacious tiled bathroom. Fixtures were impressive and furniture seemed to be all locally hand made. Staff are very helpful and barely noticeable. The 3 meal option is worth it. Highlights were a cinnamon-kefir drink, tropical bananas (which grow all over the farm) and their own crafted hot sauce. Tours were informative and I learned about how they're growing the cacao. They even had some coffee beans harvested and gave me a bag for being their 1st guest (which I roasted at home and enjoyed). Another highlight was relaxing at sunset and seeing all the stars due to almost no light pollution. After it lightly rained for 5 minutes as the sun went down, the moon started to light up a rainbow in the dark! This was a lot of experience in just a few days. And since there's so much more to do and plan in that area, I look forward to staying at 'The Cacao Farm' again.

I have been going to this farm villa since 2013 - it is the ultimate 'getaway' from city life. On one side it is a luxury resort - the rooms are like the four seasons and the three meals prepared each day are incredible. But on the other side it is an 'adventure' retreat since you are on a working organic farm with chickens roaming around, pigs making noise and cows grazing near the villa, there is very limited internet and no near by ocean, restaurants or activities. Im not sure how to properly describe the property and experience, but my family and I love it and look forward to our annual getaway at the farm all year long.
