::The only asset is the terrace otherwise avoid it. We slept there for two nights, that of April 2 and 3, 2016. It was not a good choice on our part and we were especially seduced by the terrace. We chose room 4 with shared bathroom and paid $20.00 US per night with no option to pay by credit card so make sure you have enough cash. The bathroom was dirty and the word is polite. Our room was the one whose window overlooked the terrace. The wifi worked better on the second and first floor. The bed in our room was comfortable but forget the discretion for noises because they are like cardboard walls or almost. We had a tiny fan which we ended up not using. The TV worked well but was small. We had a cabinet to store our personal belongings. The family and the staff are of an exemplary kindness. We have to pay $1.00 more per day if we want to use the small fridge near our room 4. There are rooms with private bathrooms. Long stays can be very cheap especially monthly. A guy from Quebec was paying 9 Canadian dollars a day for room 1 with private bathroom when we were there. It was normally $26.00 US a night. The communal kitchen on the first floor was unacceptably dirty with lots of ants invading it cheerfully absolutely everywhere without exception. Several rooms had a large space at the top between the walls and the ceiling. We were given 2 keys, one for our room and another for the outside gate. It is locked at all times. The staircase is very narrow between the first and second floor so if you are overweight, the passage could cause you some difficulty. We were able to enjoy the terrace a little, but a little less when we sat down there 8. You can hang a hammock there if you carry one around in your luggage. The hotel is still well located near the central park and the La Colonia supermarket. The staff and family do their utmost to accommodate you in your needs but this friendliness does not improve the very basic quality of this accommodation. There are no more free breakfasts by the way because I read reviews about it and travelers may be misled. We would rate the hygiene standards of this place as a 1 on a scale of 1 to 10. We would definitely not return and do not recommend this hotel. Review written on April 9, 2016 in Ocotal, Nicaragua.
