Beautiful Finca close to Matagalpa, definitely one of the highlights of my whole Nicaragua trip. Bit of an adventure getting there if you don't have a 4x4, but they arrange transfer pick ups if required. The Finca is managed by a lovely local family who are super friendly. You get a complimentary welcome tea or coffee on arrival, they offer amazing homemade vegetarian food and coffee from the farm. We did a walking tour and tour of the coffee plantations with Francisco which was just magical :)

We went to Finca Musica back in January 2018 and had a nice time despite the very cool and windy weather up on this beautiful mountain. This was our 2nd stop of our tour in the wonderful country of Nicaragua. (We also stayed in Managua, the main city of Matagalpa, and Granada.) Pete was very accommodating and helpful. The food was freshly prepared and conversation at the table was fun and interesting. The room that we stayed in was very spacious and actually had hot water from Solar energy. The water pressure was fair considering most of the other places we stayed at previously had little to no water pressure ( a precious commodity in Nicaragua ) We loved walking on the beautiful trail winding through the coffee plantation around the premises - very peaceful and chill. It was very cool to see mountain grown coffee close up! Pete also offers a guided coffee tour for a more comprehensive experience. We actually left early in our stay because it was a bit too cool weather wise and we already had a dose of cool windy weather at the Colibri Spanish school in Matagalpa (it was on a small mountain also) and headed to Granada for a blast of hot weather and a taste of the expat and high tourists section of the country. Pete was very understanding and supportive throughout the whole stay. We look forward to coming back to Finca Musica when we put Nicaragua on our trip list again!

This was an incredible 5 night stay for so many reasons. Firstly, the welcome I received from Pete was warm and welcoming...I immediately felt at home and knew that Pete wanted me to enjoy my holiday. Secondly, the location is breathtaking...the views, the plant life and the animal life are all incredible. Third, the food I enjoyed throughout my stay was delicious, thanks in the main to Freddy & Jo's creative flair but also due to the quality of organic, local ingredients that Pete has insisted on here. Finally, the showers are hot, the beds are comfortable and the soundtrack of the jungle is amazing to serenade you to sleep. Thank you - I would recommend this is a home from home in a very unique setting.

Our experience at Pete’s place was great! The surroundings are beautiful, filled with coffee plants and jungle. The two volunteers running the kitchen prepared excellent vegetarian food and were able to cater to our diatery restrictions (dairy free and gluten free). Pete and the atmosphere he created was very chill and homely. He was a great host, extremely accomodating and very knowlegable about birds, coffee and the entire area! If you want to take your coffee knowledge to a whole other level he knows just the right guy!

A hidden gem just outside of Matagalpa. We had a great time enjoying the mountain scenery, the fresh air, and amazing food. The accommodation is comfortable, clean and priced right. You will come for the view, but you will never want to leave after you taste Anna's amazing food. Pete is super passionate about coffee and permaculture, so his farm and/or coffee tours are a must. We stayed 2 nights, but wanted to stay for a week. The prices are very reasonable, and you definitely get great value for money for accommodations, food and also the tours. We would definitely stay there again in a heartbeat and wish we had never left. It is super easy to get there from Managua. If you have a car, head to Matagalpa. By public transport, head to the bus station Mayoreo, and hop on an Express Bus to Matagalpa, which will take about 2.5 hours. and Anna and Pete can pick you up to drive you up to their finca. It is about a 10 minute walk from the base of the road to their lodge. Great for a weekend getaway, or multiple days of relaxation!
